To Our Fellow Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
Through much seeking and much prayer, and in His timing, the Lord has begun a work known as Jacob’s Well. The mission of Jacob’s Well envelops many ministries working simultaneously to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of our community. God is using these ministries to feed, provide resources, and most importantly, to share the Gospel to those in need. Those in need are no longer just another faceless demographic or statistic. Those in need are our neighbors.
The most recent collected data by Georgia government agencies indicates Berrien County as one of the most poverty afflicted communities in the state. According to the Berrien County Department of Family and Children’s Services, 46% of households in our community receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, while another 13% live below the poverty line but do not receive any assistance for food. In a recent study into the economic outlooks of rural communities conducted by the Georgia Legislature, Berrien County was one of the highlighted counties whose economic outlook was classified as “grim” reaching into the year 2030. Berrien County has the most foster children per capita in Georgia, and this does not include children living in “relative care.” More than half of the children in Berrien county are living in poverty.
Our desire, God’s desire, is that we come together as One Church to minister to those less fortunate. In doing so, we will be able to provide much more than physical nourishment. We will be providing spiritual food as well. We truly believe this will be accomplished more effectively as one body of believers. This is The One Church Project. The One Church Project goes beyond denominations and beyond one single ministry. The One Church Project is about the work Jesus did on the cross that breaks down any walls of partition, so that we may be united as one to be effective ambassadors for the Kingdom (Ephesians 2:14-22).
Through the ministries of Jacob’s Well and through your partnership in The One Church Project, we will be able to help fund the needs of our neighbors. We are simply asking that you, first, be in much prayer for all God is doing through these ministries, and second, that you consider purchasing a sticker and/or t-shirt to support the project. Absolutely 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the cost of food and any other needs that may arise, enabling the Good News to be shared about the saving grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ!
